CELEBRATING AFRICAN AND AFRO-DIASPORIC PERFORMANCE
Since she was 9 years old, dance has always been a constant for Hilary Sayers aka Hibbz! Studio trained in the styles of jazz, ballet, tap, and modern - doing competitions and conventions all around New England and New York City( with teachers such as Dan Karaty, NappyTabs, and Footloose’s Kenny Wormald), and doing shows for the Boston Celtics, dance became a priority! After high school, she wanted to turn her focus to the hip-hop culture and all the different elements it had. She started training with her cousins dance crew, the Floor Lords. Since 1981, the Floorlords have trained some of the best bboys/bgirls in the world. They have done competitions world wide, worked with artists such as Run DMC, Madonna, 50 Cent, Missy Elliot, and The Beastie Boys and more importantly, were and are crucial to the hip-hop community in Boston, MA. Hibbz started to practice and mix together different styles into choreography such as Popping, House, Waacking, Dancehall and TopRock. In 2015, she started focusing on freestyle competitions and traveling where she made the finals to several big local competitions as well as in outside states, such as Texas, Florida and Baltimore.
