Pierre "Pierre Boogie" Arreola

PIERRE "PIERRE BOOGIE" ARREOLA is a professional dancer, social entrepreneur and social activist from the San Fernando Valley, California. Growing up in the underprivileged community of Pacoima, he arrived at Brown University on a mission to study social inequality and continue to grow the grassroots movement he and his peers founded as seniors in high school, “The GR818ERS” (pronounced ‘great-one-eighters’). With the support he has gained from local community activists, Pierre has organized collectives of young activists dedicated to improving their community and serving underprivileged youth and families through the elements of Hip Hop culture across California, New England, Mexico, and Canada. For his work utilizing Hip Hop culture as a platform for social change, Pierre has been awarded the Impact Maker to Watch of 2016 Award, the Royce Fellowship for Sport and Society, and the C.V. Starr Social Entrepreneurship Fellowship. In an effort to further this work, Pierre and his peers have founded Hip Hop 4, a nonprofit organization serving as a hub for Hip Hop artists, activists, and educators. Through his community initiatives, Pierre continues to explore Hip Hop culture as a pedagogical tool to reform educational paradigms and develop innovative solutions for social problems.
